Electronic cigarettes in Israel will be equaled to usual. Part 1
Israeli smokers that had to put up with many restrictions for the last years are expecting are expecting new introductions in the nearest future. This time in the focus of attention of Ministry of Health appeared electronic cigarettes that today are actively used by those who are trying to quit smoking.
As electronic cigarettes don't contain tobacco, the law about smoking ban in public places formally doesn't apply to them. However, recent researches have shown that, in spite of all their advantages over traditional tobacco products, electronic cigarettes also blow in the air particles that harm the health of people around. If in usual cigarettes these substances dangerous for human health are formed during tobacco burning, in case of electronic cigarettes - during evaporation.
In this connection, Ministry of Health of Israel plans to expand force of the law about smoking ban, applying it to electronic cigarettes as well. In such a way, in the nearest future, people who use electronic cigarettes also will have to refuse smoking in commercial centers, bars, restaurants and so on.
As Dr. Yael Bar-Zeev notes, consultant of Israeli Association of cancer control and President of Israeli College of preventing measures and smoking cessation, one of the problems related to electronic cigarettes is that their production is not regulated at all and is not controlled by authorities. As result consumer is not able to trust in full on words that manufacturer indicates on the package of their product. "There were products that were declared as nicotine free, but tests have shown opposite - they contained nicotine. The main material for any electronic cigarette is ethylene glycol that is potentially dangerous for lungs during inhalation", - explains Yael Bar-Zeev.
