Hookah was necessary part of dinner party or intellectual conversations. Offer to smoke hookah was considered important sign of trust and refuse could be treated as serious insult. Hookah consists of several parts, each of which is made by certain craftsmen that are named after name of part that they produce. Hookahs are made mainly of metal and glass, rarely of wood, and even more rarely of stone. Cup for water is made of glass, so called flask. Is used transparent, blue or green glass, a little rarely are used other colors. Also, very often there is painting on flasks. In old time flasks were often made of silver or crystal. The top part of hookah (shaft) more often is made of metal. All hookahs are handmade. Glass-metal hookahs are considered the best. There are hookahs that are entirely made of metal. Usually they are wholly covered with calking. Hoses are usually made of leather, porous rubber or heavy foil. The best hose is made of leather. Holders are made of wood, metal, plexiglass. Some holders are works of art. For tobacco lighting in old times were used oak coals.
