Researchers have analyzed interrogation data of more than 150 thousands participants from USA in the age of 18 years and elder for 2006-2007 that tell about profits and smoking. According to authors' estimations "the price of cutoff" is price of cigarettes pack of 4.5 USD and more. Cigarettes for 3 USD and less couldn't influence smoking volume among population where price policy was softer.
"Price is a deterrent but successful smoking refusal (90 days and more) was connected, as it appeared, mostly with smoking ban in own house", - says Dr. John Pierce, professor of Californian University in San Diego.
Authors mark that the main difficulty is that among population that lives near "income poverty line" often is met spouse tobacco dependence when smoke two adults. In this case motivation to introduce ban for smoking at home is reduced.
Scientists are sure that stiffening norms of smoking restrictions in block of flats may help at struggle at vicious habit among poor segment of people.
